Our Mission
Consumer Care was built on the belief that change is possible, and that everyone deserves a life full of joy and contentment. Many of our clients struggle or have struggled with addiction and mental health issues. Our primary focus at Consumer Care is to hold space for each of them to grow and to help them manage their lives in such a way that they can embrace their uniqueness and learn to love themselves for all that they are. We believe that mental illness is not about judgment, rather, about hope.
Consumer Care offers a unique service. It is a place to gather with like-minded individuals who share the same passion, strength, and hope. Whether our clients graduate from our curriculum and move on, or continue to receive services, all are welcome here.
Consumer Care partners with the Idaho Department of Corrections and the 6th District Diversionary Court System where we strive to rehabilitate, not incarcerate. Many of our past clients continue to live a life of recovery that began here at Consumer Care. It is our hope that through education and support, substance use and mental health can be better understood by those who struggle and those who love them.
We recognize that recovery and long-term change is a team effort. Consumer Care provides therapy, Community-Based Resource Services (CBRS), Case Management, Peer Support Services, Partial Care (STAD) and Substance Use counseling and psychoeducation classes. Our curriculum is ever-expanding and changing to meet the needs of an evolving world.
Our History
Consumer Care LLC was established in 1999 by Tania Kerr, LSW. Consumer Care LLC‘s services at that time were Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Case Management, Therapy and Partial Care for persons diagnosed with a mental health disorder. In 2013 Psychosocial Rehabilitation was removed from the program and Community Based Rehabilitation Services replaced it. Consumer Care LLC currently provides Therapy, Community Based Rehabilitation Services, Partial Care, Case Management, and Peer Support Services.
In 2013 Consumer Care LLC instituted the Substance Use Treatment Program, which is a comprehensive treatment program, which is an outpatient program whose aim is to assist individuals who struggle with substance use disorders. Services include: Therapy, Group Psychotherapy, case management, and Peer Support services. Consumer Care LLC also offers the Life and Recovery Reconstruction Program in partnership with the Idaho Department of Corrections. Our belief is that treatment should be prioritized above incarceration. Consumer Care LLC also specializes in supporting individuals who have co-occurring disorders. Simply put, these are individuals who struggle with mental health and substance use disorder concurrently. Each of these services are offered under one roof and are tailored to meet the needs of each individual. Consumer Care LLC strives to improve the lives of our clients through support, education, compassion, and camaraderie.
